Peter Thomson
On Wednesday 20th June 2018 , Aged 88
Golfing great, Peter Thomson is Australia’s greatest golfer and a Life Member of Riversdale Golf Club.
After winning the 1948 Victorian Amateur and being leading amateur at the 1948 Australian Open at the age of 19, Peter joined Riversdale to became assistant professional to the legendary George Naismith.
During his 3 years at Riversdale he was second in the 1950 Australian Open behind Norman Von Nida then in 1951 he won both the NZ Open and the Australian Open (Von Nida was runner-up). The rest was history.
As part of our 125 year celebrations last year, Peter gave the Club a special video interview which was featured at our Celebratory dinner and on the member’s website.
Riversdale Golf Club is privileged to have played a small part in the life of this wonderful gentleman.
