REMEMBRANCE DAY – A RIVERSDALE TRADITION
Of all the “traditions” that have helped define Riversdale over the years, perhaps the events surrounding the commemoration of Remembrance Day are the most outstanding.
Riversdale has been celebrating the significance of Remembrance Day since 1947, just as the world was emerging from the ashes of World War 2.
Since that time the Remembrance Day dinner and golf tournament have been an annual event on the Riversdale calendar.
In an already crowded schedule it is a ‘must have’ event, appealing as it does to club members and reflecting their wide recognition and appreciation of the sacrifices made by Australians in various conflicts.
We call on all members, young and old, to support the club’s celebration of the day.
An individual trophy for the best round of the day honours the memory of Bill Winning, a club stalwart and strong supporter of the day and the events that surround it.
Riversdale is justifiably proud of its role in recognising and acknowledging the significance of Remembrance Day with its contribution celebrated on the nearest Thursday to 11/11.
This year the event will be held on Thursday, 9 November. Members’ guests are welcome with green fees waived for those guests who also attend the dinner.
