The ISPS HANDA Australian Open was held this year at Kingston Heath and Victoria Golf clubs from November 28th until December 1st.
29 Riversdale members volunteered their time to marshal a hole at Kingston Heath for the duration of the tournament. We were allocated the Par 5, 14th hole, which kept our team very busy watching for and finding wayward tee shots, controlling crowd movement and manning the 2 cross walks on the hole.
Everyone involved managed extremely well and I hope that each of volunteers enjoyed the experience. There was certainly some great golf on display over the four days from the men, women and All abilities players. The eventual winners did not have an easy time as the weather conditions were typical of Melbourne, from hot and humid to solid rain and wind all of which really tested the players and volunteers.
Thanks go to our members who were involved, most of whom are pictured below. They were a great team and a lot of fun to work with. I hope we can do it again sometime!!
